Configure AI Assistant
What is the AI Assistant?
The AI Assistant in Salesnode is a smart tool designed to help you manage your sales outreach more efficiently. It acts as your inbox assistant, capable of chatting with you, drafting email replies, and performing various actions across the platform to save you time and improve communication quality. Understanding how to use and configure the assistant properly will help you get the most out of this powerful feature.
How to Open the AI Assistant
Accessing the AI Assistant is straightforward and can be done from anywhere within Salesnode. You can open the assistant sidebar by clicking the toggle in the header or by using the convenient keyboard shortcuts Cmd + K on Mac or Ctrl + K on Windows. Once open, the assistant is ready to chat, help draft replies, or assist with platform actions.
Using the Assistant Sidebar
The sidebar provides a dedicated space where you can interact with the assistant without leaving your current workflow. Whether you want to ask a question, generate a quick email draft, or request help with data, the assistant is accessible instantly.
Quick Setup: Configuring Your AI Assistant
Before you start using the AI Assistant, you need to configure some essential settings to tailor its behavior to your needs. These settings are found under Settings → Assistant in the sidebar.
- Provider: Choose your preferred AI provider from options like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, Mistral, or GroqCloud. Note that you will need a valid API key to activate the assistant.
- Model: Select the AI model for conversations. More advanced models provide better reasoning and context understanding, while lighter models respond faster and cost less.
- Temperature: Adjust the creativity of the assistant’s responses. Lower values (0.2–0.4) make replies more precise and focused, ideal for factual or transactional communication. Higher values (0.7–1.0) encourage creative and varied responses.
- Max Tokens: Set the maximum length for the assistant’s replies. Avoid setting this too low to prevent incomplete or cut-off messages.
- Approval Workflows: If you allow the assistant to perform actions like editing records or creating campaigns, enable approval prompts to confirm these actions before they are executed.
Tips for Choosing the Right Settings
- Use a lower temperature for drafting professional emails to keep messages clear and to the point.
- Increase max tokens if you want more detailed or longer responses.
- Enable approval workflows for added security when the assistant interacts with your data.
Configuring your AI Assistant properly ensures smoother interactions and better results.
Drafting Replies in the Inbox with the AI Assistant
One of the most powerful features of the AI Assistant is its ability to help you draft replies directly within your unified email inbox. This feature streamlines your workflow by generating contextual responses based on the email thread.
Follow these steps to draft a reply using the AI Assistant:
- Open any email conversation in your Inbox.
- Trigger the “Draft AI Reply” command either from the command palette by pressing Shift + M or by using the designated keyboard shortcut.
- Review the AI-generated reply in the draft window. You can edit the content as needed before sending.
- Send the reply manually—nothing is sent automatically, giving you full control over your communication.
Why Use AI Drafting?
Using the AI to draft replies saves time and helps maintain consistent messaging. It can also suggest responses that you might not have considered, improving engagement with your contacts.
Troubleshooting and Use Cases
Different users might want to configure the AI Assistant differently depending on their use case, such as quick replies, creative outreach, or complex data queries. Here are some common scenarios and how to adjust your settings accordingly:
Quick Replies
For quick replies, select a lighter model with a low temperature (0.2–0.4) to ensure concise and accurate responses.
Always test your AI settings with a few emails before fully relying on automated drafts.
